THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMERS TPE

Description of Thermoplastic elastomers TPE

Thermoplastic elastomers TPE materials are classified as part of a thermoplastic elastomer using a combination of characteristics to Thermoplastics and elastomers. TPE are biphasic materials composed of soft plastic pieces and hard thermoplastic part. Soft part determined elasticity and low temperature behavior, while the rigid section defines operation at higher temperature, longer life and technological qualities.
The advantages of TPE are numerous.
TPE today replaced the use of rubber /EPDM/ in all application areas, because of much more ease of processing.
Main features and benefits of TPE
  • Very large hardness range
  • Easy coloring
  • Good processing ability
  • High service temperature range
  • Chemical resistance
  • Excellent low temperature performance (suitable for use in cold climates)
  • Compatibility with PP, PE and other polymers
  • Recycling
  • Great ability to be formulated with other polymers
  • Custom requirements (abrasion, high compression set, adhesion with technopolymers)
  • Extremely stuffing: TPE retains its sealing function for years without cracking or deformation
